Aid collected and distributed to those affected in Ukraine by the conflict was destroyed by a Russian tank.
Russian tanks fired on the offices of the humanitarian aid organization Caritas Ukraine in Mariupol, killing seven people, including two of its employees.
One of Ukraine’s most prominent Catholic charities, Caritas-Speis announced on Monday that two staff members had died in a Twitter post.
The Caritas office in Mariupol had been shot at by a tank, and people were in the building at the time. “Seven people, including two women Caritas Mariupol staff members, were killed,” read the post.
At least 10,000 people have died in Mariupol.
There have been more than 10,000 civilian deaths as of Monday, according to Mayor of Mariupol who spoke to AP.
Additional information from Mayor Vadym Boychenko stated that Russian forces have brought mobile cremation equipment to the city in an attempt to hide the number of deaths.
“Mobile crematoriums have arrived in the form of trucks: You open it and there is a pipe inside and these bodies are burned,” he said, according to the AP report.
Caritas Ukraine, the charitable arm of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, tweeted the following information about the attack:
